i've been okay -- loads of changes in my life, namely the fact that ya girl is gonna be a published author early next year! i've been working on this book off and on over the last year, and it's finally almost finished. i can't wait! (:

me, writing a new chapter: okay, so this is the outline for this chapter, let's stick to it!

me, when the characters start doing whatever they want: oh, okay! that's fine, it still fits into the story, as long as we go back to using the outline as soon as you're done with whatever you're doing.

readathon

my 7-year-old is participating in a readathon this year (much like he did last year), and his goal for monetary donations is $250USD. i won't ask any of you to actually donate; i just ask that you consider it. any and all proceeds go to Bookspring's childhood literacy programs here in the central austin area (where we live). if you don't want to donate, that's absolutely fine! but could you please at least leave him an encouraging comment on his page? he loves reading the nice messages every day, and it would go a long way in keeping him motivated on actually reaching his goals!

in the last three days alone, he's read 113 pages (out of the 1500 he wants to achieve) over 97 minutes (out of 420), and has $85usd raised!

What is Bringing Food to the Lab?

Bringing Food to the Lab is a Discord server centered around the ship of Captain America and Iron Man created by yours truly back when an Imzy forum of the same name existed. Imzy is now a defunct site but I believe BFttL merged with another Stony community on Dreamwidth.

What’s new?

Categories- Discord allows for there to be groups of channels, allowing for a more clean experience in chat.
NS//FW chats- Before the Discord server had a NS//FW channel that was available to all. Now, the NS//FW chats are only available to those who are 18+ and you access them by requesting a special marker. Everyone else isn’t allowed in.
Rules are still important, but at least we’re reasonable, I think- Not much has changed in terms of the old rules to the new ones-they just have become more detailed and hopefully it’s easy for you to understand. :) These can be amended to be clearer or better suit the community as time moves forward.
New moderation- Other than the creator of the server (Mixie), there are 4 new mods!
Creator Circle- Not really a new thing, but we have the Creator Circle, a dedicated channel in the server for people to sit and workshop.

so with all the crap that tumblr is pulling, it looks like i'm back here again! so hi! hopefully, i can keep up with this. I also have a pillowfort if you would like to join me there. unfortunately, until pf changes from a .io domain to one that allows explicit content freely, this will be the only place i post any explicit ficlets/snippets from fics that have explicit content, or explicit art (which i'm hoping to get more into, because i got a new tablet/laptop thingy that allows me to do ~art~ lol). here's to hoping that this doesn't turn out to be an exercise in futility - and by that, i mean that i really need friends xD

i've got four fics currently being worked on - well, three being written, one being plotted. hopefully, i can actually stick to writing them. because i'm tired of them being in my wips folder, mocking me as i add yet another wip to the list.

why did i do this to myself? i've signed up for four bangs this year. thankfully, they're all stretched out over a period of a few months, but still. that's four separate fics that i have to write. *bangs head on desk*

the good news is, i have 3 out of 4 loosely/vaguely plotted out and am halfway through writing the first one, so yay for 75%! wait, no. they're all loosely/vaguely plotted out, i'm just an idiot for forgetting that.

well, i'm off to writing again for a bit. here's to hoping i can actually successfully get this done.

so yesterday, i posted about how i was having difficulty writing, and was most likely going to have to do a writing-sprint in order to get it done.

well...

that didn't happen. i managed to write an entire chapter without the help of a sprint. so now i'm watching pinky and the brain while i start writing the final chapter of the magic of miracles. so today's off to a good start.

i finally managed to get chapter eighteen of magic of miracles written, typed up, and sent off to my beta, so now all i have to do is wait for her to send it back. i'll be updating the story again on tuesday, but all i want to do is update it now. ><;

i'm hoping to finish writing the next two chapters within the next week (two, at most), so that i can start working on "bonus content" for it.

anyway.

as the title says: writing is haaarrrrd. i'm trying to focus on starting chapter nineteen, but all i can do is watch cartoons and write only five words at a time. it's ridiculous. ><; here's to hoping it gets easier. i might have to do a writing-sprint to get the creative juices flowing.

oh, for the love of thor, i'm irritating myself with my lack of writing.

With a heavy sigh, Steve steps onto the elevator, thumbs the button for the ground floor, and closes his eyes against the wave of bone-deep exhaustion. It's been such a long day; even his shield feels like it might break his spine where it rests in its harness on his back. What started off as a simple “in-out” mission, with Natasha and the STRIKE team, turned into a show from Hell within three minutes of landing. The intel had been so disastrously wrong: Instead of the small group they were expecting, there had been over seventy targets to take out, and that was with the stipulation that none of the hostages be harmed. Unfortunately, three were killed in the melee, another seven left in serious condition, and half the STRIKE team sent to Medical upon extraction due to injuries suffered during the fight, because somehow, someone failed to mention that the targets had had weapons far beyond anything SHIELD had ever seen. Evidently, cast-offs from HYDRA and AIM had decided to join together after being rejected from the terror groups. Steve is only glad that the op was a success – a disaster almost from the start, but successful in terms of the splinter cell being taken out.

The lift beeps quietly, and the doors slide open. There are still agents running around the lobby of SHIELD HQ, even though it's going on two in the morning. A few nod in his direction, but ultimately, he's able to walk out without anyone starting conversations. A car waits at the curb; he can't help but smile tiredly, knowing this is Tony's way of making sure he gets home okay. He unhooks his shield, slides into the backseat, head thumping against the headrest. The ride is silent, with only the sound of the tyres eating up the miles to break up the quiet. Steve nearly falls asleep by the time they reach the tower.

A suit stands outside the personal entrance. Steve isn't even surprised; he wraps an arm around the shoulders of the armour, tightens his grip on the shield, and allows JARVIS to fly him up to the landing pad outside of the penthouse. He stumbles a bit when they land and watches as the suit clanks away toward the door to the workshop. The lights inside the penthouse are off. He opens the bedroom door, smiling at the sight of a sleeping form huddled under the covers. Steve is pretty sure he knows exactly who’s asleep in the bed, but he opts to take another shower instead of investigating further. Though he took one before the debrief, his skin feels heavy with the events of the past thirteen hours. He strips quickly, steps into the shower stall, and turns on the water.

Steve lets the spray hit his face, wash away the nonexistent layer of grime, though he knows nothing will take away the memories. He pours a large handful of shower gel onto the pouf and starts scrubbing harshly at his skin. A soft grunt escapes him as his flesh turns a vivid red from the pressure and the scratchiness of the mesh. His eyes burn with unshed tears, anger and grief and the overwhelming sense of failure swirling in every inch of his body; he wants to punch someone, something, and it doesn’t matter who or what, as long as he can unleash the violent cacophony of his emotions.

“If you’re trying to tear your skin off, I’d much rather you didn’t, seeing as I’m pretty partial to it.”

Steve drops the pouf to the bottom of the shower at Tony’s voice, letting his boyfriend turn him around. He avoids looking into the other man’s dark eyes, doesn’t want Tony to see just how off he is feeling at the moment. But Tony refuses to allow Steve to shy away; a hand cups Steve’s cheek, gently guiding Steve to meet his eyes.

“What the Hell happened to you?”

“I’m sure you already know,” mutters Steve.

“Yeah, I do.”

No other words are spoken as Tony cards shampoo-slicked fingers through Steve’s hair, tilting the blond’s head back under the spray to rinse away the soap. Once that’s done, Tony slips his arms around Steve’s waist and pulls him in for a tight embrace. The water shuts off behind Steve; he follows Tony numbly out of the shower, lets Tony drag a soft towel along his body, stumbles behind Tony into the bedroom. Bucky is sitting up in the bed now, grey-blue eyes bright and concerned in the dim lights. His metal arm whirs as he reaches out for Steve, and Steve tumbles forward into Bucky’s grasp. Tony slides onto the bed and positions himself against Steve’s back; his hands are gentle as he strokes them along Steve’s sides.

“Let us take care of you, darling.”

“I’m fine.”

“Stop lyin’, Stevie. You’re not fine. You will be eventually, but right now? Ya need us. So let us.”
