i woke up this morning not realising i'd get into an argument with a 5-year-old about whether or not one can have a birthday without having a birthday cake... needless to say, i stopped by the store and bought myself a cake just in case she was right, because i would really like to have my birthday today, lol.

I don't know for sure, but I think she's right. It's possible to substitute if the substitution is made in the right spirit, but you'd be on thin ice, and would probably have to wear a party hat to make sure your birthday takes hold.

haha yeah, i didn't want to risk being wrong and not having a birthday, so i bought a cake and ice cream today lol. i mean, i think it's an acceptable cake - lemon-blueberry bundt cake (it certainly sounds delicious), so here's to hoping i actually have my birthday today! lol

lol i'm more of a pie or cheesecake kind of person, but my daughter said those weren't good enough options and that i had to get a cake. i honestly should have just gotten a pie; the cake i chose didn't taste good at all.
